Boeing 737-846(WL)

6 km west of Misawa Air Base (MSJ/RJSM) -

A Boeing 737-800 of Japan Airlines, operating JAL/JL158 from Misawa to Tokyo/Haneda, suffered a bird strike just afer takeoff at 6 km west of Misawa, 2000 feet AGL. The nose section was damaged. The flight continued to Haneda where a safe landing was carried out. No reported injuries. The Boeing is still out of service as of 24th March.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

1600 km east of Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan -

Japan Airlines flight JL57, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, encountered turbulence en route at FL380 (probably around 03:00 UTC/12:00 JST) over Pacific Ocean. One cabin crew member suffered serious injuries. The flight continued to the destination where a safe landing was carried out at 16:53 JST. JTSB launched an investigation as an accident a month later.
